CapCut to End Free Cloud Storage Starting August 5

ByteDance's popular video editing app, CapCut, will discontinue its free cloud storage option for creative assets as of August 5.

Recently, users have been notified of these changes to CapCut's free tier terms. Previously, CapCut offered 1 GB of free cloud storage, but this feature will be removed. Going forward, users will need to pay for cloud storage on CapCut.

CapCut provides two paid storage plans: 100 GB for $2.49 per month and 1000 GB for $7.49 per month. This change means creators will need to purchase additional storage or use another cloud service provider to share their files.

Additionally, the app's free tier previously allowed up to five collaborators on one account. This limit will be reduced to two people.

"Starting August 5th, users will be able to add one collaborator to their CapCut account for free. For those who wish to collaborate with more people, CapCut offers the Team Tier package, allowing users to collaborate with multiple accounts using the same cloud space," a company spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Earlier this year, YouTube expanded its CapCut rival, the Create app, to 13 more markets, including Brazil, Spain, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong.
